But Assemblyman Ash Kalra went a step further with his entry - a pumpkin decorated as the head of the creepy girl doll robot in the “Red Light, Green Light” game. The nonprofit advocacy agency’s staff modeled one pumpkin after the red-hooded guards on the South Korean series that’s the latest Netflix sensation. So it wasn’t surprising to see not just one but two “Squid Game”-inspired pumpkins.
Over its 13 years, there have been “Trumpkins,” Baby Shark, Pokémon and more. The decorated pumpkins showcased every year at the Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits’ “Be Our Guest” affair are usually a good barometer of current events and pop culture.
